Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
This summer, Caz Family Camp will be held at Camp Navarro while our longtime site continues to recover from the January storm. We know a change of site brings a lot of understandable questions, and we hope this document helps you get a clearer and grounded picture of what to expect. Our goal is always to create a space of creativity, connection, and care that feels supported and thoughtful. When will the final class schedule be released?
We are working diligently to finalize the full class list and expect to share it in the coming weeks. Once the list is announced, class sign-ups will open shortly after. If you were part of our early bird registration, you will get priority enrollment in classes.
Who are the teaching artists?
We are in the process of finalizing our Teaching Artist rosters for both sessions. This year’s circumstances required some adjustments, but we’re excited about the lineup that’s coming together and can’t wait to share it with you soon.
Is there a pool?
There is no swimming pool at Camp Navarro. However, there is a river and we are actively looking for ways to ensure campers can make time for water play.
Is there a creek or river?
Yes. The North Fork of the Navarro River runs through the camp property. It currently has running water, and we expect that to continue through August, though water levels can always be affected by drought conditions.
Can I bring my pet?
No. Just like our longtime site, no pets are allowed at camp.
Will there be Wi-Fi or cell service?
Camp Navarro advertises Wi-Fi, but we have asked for it to be turned off during our stay to preserve the magic of being fully present and immersed in camp life. There will also be little to no cell service on site. We will make some wi-fi access available for emergencies.
What about Kid City?
There will be a dedicated Kid City space for our campers in daycare. Like at our Cazadero site, this area will be clearly defined and enclosed to help keep little ones safe, engaged, and in their own special zone.
Will visitors be allowed?
Yes, visitors will be allowed. Like in previous years, there will be a visitor fee to help us cover costs. More details will be shared closer to camp.
How big is the site?
Camp Navarro is 200+ acres, over 10 times the size of our long-time home in Cazadero. However, we will not be utilizing all 200+ acres and are working with the site staff to create boundaries for our campers.
Where exactly is Camp Navarro located?
Camp Navarro is nestled in 200 acres of redwoods along the North Fork of the Navarro River in Anderson Valley, Mendocino County, in Northern California wine country. The nearest airport is the Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport.
What about wildlife?
There is a variety of wildlife that Camp Navarro shares the land with. Like in Cazadero, you will not be allowed to leave food out overnight or keep open food in the tents and Adirondacks.
What’s the food situation? Will there be vegetarian/vegan options?
Yes. There will be vegetarian and vegan options at every meal. Camp Navarro has a resident catering team who will be preparing our food this year. We take dietary needs and allergies seriously and will be working closely with their chef and staff to ensure meals are nourishing, filling, and inclusive.
Will bedding be provided?
No. Campers will need to bring their own bedding (sleeping bags, sheets, pillows, etc.). A full packing list will be sent closer to camp.
Is Camp Navarro our new permanent home?
Our longtime home in Cazadero was deeply affected by the January storm, and we patiently await progress on its recovery. Our priority right now is this summer and making sure we have a site that can fully support our program this year. We are very excited about Camp Navarro welcoming us with open arms as new tenants this year.
