Fuchilieri, Andrea Fuchilieri

Fuchilieri Andrea was born in the beautiful city of Rosario, Argentina. She began her dance studies in 1983 at age six, and has explored many different genres from ballet, classical Spanish dances, Flamenco, modern dance, contact improvisation, Argentine folklore, Afro-Haitian, salsa, swing and many other ethnic dance forms. In 1998, Andrea moved to New York City to further her studies in dance and body awareness techniques at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance and Nassau Community College, Long Island. It was a combination of living in New York City and the nostalgia of being away from home that brought her closer to Tango. Since then, she has dedicated all her energy and devotion to the Art Form of Argentine Tango. Always fascinated by the dynamics of the human body, how it moves, connects and relates to itself and others, Andrea continues to research and explore movement through a daily practice of modern dance and Yoga. As business manager, Andrea is the heart and soul behind Trio Garufa. She has also performed with a number of well-respected tango dancers from all over the world. Along with Hung-Yut Chen, she won the USA Tango Contest in 2002 . She is currently teaching and performing Argentine Tango Salon with Guillermo Garcia throughout the Bay Area.
