Jankelow, Pamela Jankelow

jankelowPamela Jankelow was born in South Africa and started dancing at age 4, joined a junior youth ballet company at 12 years and then performed with the first multi racial dance company traveling Southern Africa. She came over to America and performed with Joseph Holmes Chicago dance theater. She has taught classes and dance workshops in ballet, modern, and jazz dance. She taught and ran the modern dance program at Barat College Performing Arts College and travelled and performed around the world.
After an accident that left her in pain for eight years, she healed in her travels in West Africa where the drumming and sheer joy of dance encouraged her to dance again. Pamela studied with many master teachers from Congo, Guinea, Mali and Senegal, and gives thanks to Mabiba Baegne, Alseny Soumah, Youssouf Koumbassa, Moustapha Bangoura and Naby Bangoura for all their teaching and wonderful inspiration. She currently performs with Rhythm Village which shares the wisdom of African culture music and dance with everyone.
